framework is supported by corrosion-resistant steel beams anchored into the

The Kanyakumari Glass
Bridge was developed and constructed by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development
Corporation/TTDC, in collaboration with private engineering firms specializing
in structural glass and high-altitude platforms. The project was envisioned as
part of a broader effort to modernize and diversify the tourism offerings of
Kanyakumari. The total cost of construction is estimated to be around ₹37
crores/approximately USD/$4.46 million. This substantial investment reflects
the state government’s commitment to promoting tourism and providing
state-of-the-art experiences to domestic and international visitors.
Safety is paramount in
the design of the Kanyakumari Glass Bridge. It is equipped with guardrails on
both sides, made of reinforced glass and stainless steel, offering a secure
experience for all visitors. Entry is regulated, and visitors are required to
wear protective foot covers to avoid scratches or damage to the glass surface.
The area around the bridge is equally well-planned, featuring paved walkways,
shaded seating arrangements, landscaped gardens, and multilingual information
boards that explain the geological and ecological significance of the site. The
bridge also features ambient lighting for evening visits, transforming the
entire structure into a glowing platform above the sea when the sun sets.
With its cutting-edge

HOW TO REACH
KANYAKUMARI GLASS BRIDGE:
ROAD: Kanyakumari is well-connected by road to
nearby cities like Nagercoil, Trivandrum, and Madurai. Regular government and
private buses operate from these locations, making it easy for travelers to
reach Kanyakumari by bus. If you're driving, national highways provide a smooth
route into the town. Once in Kanyakumari, you can easily hire an auto-rickshaw
or taxi to reach the ferry point that takes you to the Glass Bridge.
TRAIN: The nearest railway station is
Kanyakumari Railway Station, located just 2 kilometers from the main tourist
area. Trains from major Indian cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, and
Delhi stop here. After arriving at the station, visitors can take an auto or a
cab to the beach area where ferry services to the Glass Bridge are available.
AIR: The closest airport is Trivandrum
International Airport, situated around 90 kilometers from Kanyakumari. From the
airport, travelers can hire a private cab or take a bus to reach Kanyakumari
town. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours by road and is quite scenic,
especially along the coastal stretches.
FINAL
ACCESS/FERRY: The
Kanyakumari Glass Bridge is accessible only by ferry service, which is the same
route used to reach the Vivekananda Rock Memorial and Thiruvalluvar Statue. The
ferry departs from the jetty near Kanyakumari Beach and runs daily from 8:00 AM
to 6:00 PM. Visitors must purchase a ticket at the ferry counter to board.
